Detailed description of Mountain Lake
Mountain Lake, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located on the north side of Lake Wales, Florida, about 45 minutes southwest of Orlando.
Mountain Lake Golf Course opened for play in 1918. The course was designed by Seth Raynor. The course has been rennovated by Brian Silva.
It's an exclusive golf club, open only to guest of members, and those staying on-site. The course is routed around an upscale private community that was founded in 1915.
A number of holes were inspired by courses in England, including the Biarritz, the Redan, the Alps, Punchbowl, and bunker shapes from St Andrews. The course has forgiving fairways and landing zones off the tees, with some water and plenty of sand in play.
The on-site hotel is a classic. The Mountain Lake Golf Course closes during the summer months.
Mountain Lake Golf Course is a par-70 challenge that measures 6,621 yards from the back tees.

Stayed at the Colony House on site, which adds to the great overall experience, during a tournament. Staff is wonderful, and this Seth Raynor classic should be on every true golfer's bucket list, although being quite private, you need a contact to play. Low volume of play means the course is in pristine condition, and pace of play is fast as befits a private club. You will use all the clubs in your bag here, Rough is minimal, no forced carries, excellent fairway lies - no excuses! I am 79 with a 10.3 index and shot my age 3 of 4 days. Fun golf on a premium course at a very reasonable cost.
